About the market index
What is the CardLedger market index?
It is the combined live market value of every priced card we track, recorded once per day. Because we compute it ourselves from our own snapshots, it is a first-party measure of how the tracked market is moving — not a third-party feed.
How is the index calculated?
Each day we sum the live TCGplayer market value of every priced card across the catalogue. The index is that sum over time. We also compute the same figure per series, so you can see which parts of the market are rising or cooling.
Does the index include every card ever printed?
No — it covers the sets CardLedger tracks (thousands of cards across dozens of sets). It is a consistent, comparable basket rather than the entire hobby, so its trend reflects the tracked market over time.
